Castle Combe Mega Manic Midweek Duathlon Series 2013 And 10km Run

The Bath Amphibians Triathlon Club bring you The Mega Manic Midsummer Midweek Duathlon series. The only midweek, affordable and traffic free race to challenge yourself or sharpen you up for that big event at the weekend. Still situated at Castle Combe Race Circuit and still comprising a 2 mile flat run followed by a 10 mile flat bike on super smooth tarmac, topped off with another 2 mile run.

This year will also see a new addition in the form of a 10k flat run race on the night of the Monster (July)! So if you don’t want to the bike section, why not race the 10km instead!

For those that do, we’ve got chip timing, all of our friendly club members to look after you again and great series prizes and souvenirs. For those that don’t (yet), it’s actually fun and totally inclusive in case you’re worried it’s not for you. Used to handing it to elites at big events? We’ve got some competitors that’ll give you a run for your money at least, used to getting out of breath walking the dog? No worries, you have to start somewhere and it doesn’t get more beginner friendly than this series.

The MONSTER, which is both big and fairly ugly is what will give you true hero status. Want to show that your whippet times in the standard distance races aren’t your limit? Want to impress Debbie from accounts? This is your race! It has the same distances as the standard races but offers that bit extra by shoe horning in an extra run and an extra bike so: run/bike/run/bike/run! Nice.

There will be Strava segment built into the bike leg each month and there will be random prizes awarded (you will need to be hooked up with a device that is logged into Strava for this to work). There will also be chances to win spot prizes on the night courtesy of Avon Valley Cyclery. (http://www.avonvalleycyclery.co.uk/)
